The Caged Bird Sings

The butterfly flies yet the caged bird doesn't sing. The bird let's it's story be known, yet the butterfly flies to the next landing with ease. Those who do not listen to the caged bird who sings often is in awe of the Butterfly's wings. They don't listen to the beautiful sounds the caged bird sings, the beauty of the butterfly envelops them all. The bird can no longer take the ignored pleas, she rips at her cage to be set free. The Butterfly mocks her, laughing at her "You can't be free of the metal cage that binds thee" She replies, "Anything is possible, when you believe." One night, the caged bird flies free for the door was left open to her advantage. The Butterfly cries because she knows she has not won. The bird mocks her, "Believe in the impossible, and the impossible shall be possible."

I think the main poet similarity is Maya Angelou's work. I'm assuming you have read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Have you read Still I Rise by Maya Angelou? Still I Rise is one of my favorite pieces of hers. You can find it here: http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/still-i-rise/ Good work! :) I think you should find more of Maya Angelou's work and let it inspire you to write more poems.
