A Caged Heart

A heart beats,

A constant melody.

Pounding itself harshly against its cage-

Roaring for freedom to be given away.

How I had, many times- too many- to tug the leash back.

In fear thy pulsing heart will bleed.

The poor thing has been through enough as is.

Burned and broken,

The past trauma remains,

For more than mere wounds,

Were inflicted onto it.

I refuse to let it ache again,

I refuse to let it hurt again.

I lock you up, for you cloud my thoughts.

You let emotion storm, rather than reason rain.

Understand, my dear, you shall never be free.

For nobody will hear the song, you sing.

No matter, how delightful, it may be.

It must be kept away.

For humanity, adores to manipulate.

The most sacred of gems,

For rarity's sake,

We must hide away.
