The Caged Lion

Nature sounds are now replaced with sounds of disagreement

Words spoken as if tongues were made of concrete

Yelling so loud when you two are so near

Yelling so loud planet mars can hear

Amplified arguments anger the almighty Atlantic

Air in the house in becomes so frantic

Never has nature seen storm clouds so gigantic

So bad I wanted to see what was happening

I knew that I shouldn’t because the sight behind that door wouldn’t be flattering

The walls began to shake and the pictures on my walls seemed to fall

It now felt like I was living on the California fault line, stopping me from walking I had to crawl

Every natural disaster discovered had come through the house that night

I knew that soon all this yelling would be stopped by the morning light

The only thing I had to look forward to, the morning light

Constant yelling causing throats to dry

Conversations so toxic it causes the earth to die

It seemed that night the rooms never stopped screaming

They spoke words so cruel I thought I was dreaming

Has the earth morning light come early today? The rooms had stopped screaming

Then suddenly the rooms began ringing

The ringing stopped by the sound of a new voice

Who are these flashing lights and sirens?

Their interior looks so unpleasant, like traveling jails

What’s going on, they’re chaining up the rooms

Being forced out by the lights and sirens, they acted as if they were brooms

Where were they taking the trash? It isn’t garbage day

The garbage trucks pulled off and the rooms turned gray

They had taken my favorite room, now a caged lion, away
