The Cake
The ordinary cake is unfortunately made.
It sits and stares at me,
With its crumbs caught in the icing
And it bothers me.
Its small and limited size means no room for options:
No room for flowers,
No room for writing “Happy Birthday Dan”,
No room for design.
And the crumbs in the icing,
They shouldn’t be showing.
Actually, there shouldn’t be any crumbs.
The whole cake looks amateur.
Dan would view it as perfect.
He wouldn’t notice the crumbs.
He doesn’t pay attention to those type of things.
I can imagine him viewing the cake:
I wonder how he looks at it
Without noticing such
Clumsy aspects.
Could it be because he is blind?
It doesn’t matter.
I’m going to make a new cake.
This cake will have a second layer of icing,
To secretly cover the crumb layer.
I don’t want anyone to notice the crumbs.
This cake will have unlimited room.
It will be spacious.
This time, I will write
The words first elegantly,
In white frosting.
This time I will put the yellow roses around the writing.
The words will not look clustered.
It will look perfect.
I will still feel wrong about it.
I will still look at it
Without the
Feeling of perfection.
I will still look at it
With the feeling of
A task impossible to complete.
