The Call

The Call

Like the sunrise on the western hills,

I saw your light and followed,

Like the morning dew on grass so clear,

I felt your emerald waters,

Like the elfin bugle sounding near,

I heard your call and I followed it.

Who knows what earthly treasure you bring?

As I wander through the harvest and the spring,

Leaving home and hearth behind,

To seek you beneath the sky,

For I heard your call and followed it.

Through dark lands I must travel,

Where the clouds shall cover the sun,

What mysteries will this world unravel?

As I journey in lands beyond?

For I heard your call and followed it.

Now my journey’s at an end,

I’ve come so far and travelled long,

Beyond the brooks and river bend,

Awaits a home of mirth and song

For I left home and house and tree,

To follow you, to follow you,

For I heard your call and followed it

Like the river meandering far,

I saw your way and followed it,

Under mountains, beneath the stars,

I felt your wind and followed it,

Like the bugle sounding afar,

I heard your call and followed it.
