The Call of Duty

When those towers fell You heard the call You felt the need to protect your country Your family Your life You left us behind, our brave soldier Leaving us to wonder if we would see you again See your smile Your bright eyes Feel your arms around us The day you returned was happy The days after were hard In your dreams you still see the war You still hear the sounds Feel the fear Your children shriek with laughter You duck under the table Again you leave us to go to foreign land Leave us aching for your presence But we understand We know you heard the call of duty
