The Call of the Wild
The Call of the Wild
Alex Smith
Water trickles down the trees of the rainforest
so soft but yet so sharp
outspread vegetation acting as a tarp
Gorillas cradling their youth,
Jaguars residing in the branches of the canopies
Gaboon Vipers acting as thieves
I hear the call of the wild
whooping, hissing, squawking, gibbering
but to me the sounds are all singing
The crunching of the forest floor
as the wild ones grow near
I feel them creeping upon my soul but I shall not fear
I hear the call of the wild
tigers roaring, frogs croaking, birds chirping in great elevation
the call of the wild has come to be one of God’s greatest creations
