A Calling of My Own

In darkness I learn my calling

From Shadows so divine

They call me to a higher purpose

Of writing what was never mine

The Shadows dance and sing to me

Creatures directly from my mind

They slink and tell me memories

Stories I never meant to find

Tales of horror straight from Hell

And depression deeper than the sea

Stories of children lost in time

Things never lost on me

But of the stories told to me

And from the songs Shadows sing

I’ll never forget the ones of love

And what love will often bring

So for the Shadows of the night

I listen and I wait

To hear the stories that they tell

And write for those awake
