Calming Waters

I moved down here for the calmness.

The peaceful nights with the warm, gentle ocean breeze.

The walks on the beach with the gentle caress of the quartz sand in between my toes.

The wind blowing my hair in my face as I listen to the waves crashing into the shore.

The calmness I came for was an escape.

An escape from the stresses of figuring out my career and adult life.

To deal with the unsuccessful medical school applications.

And the mountains of debt obtained trying to fulfill my dream.

This calmness resulted in a charity.

One not achievable amoungst the high expectations of family and the disappointments of failure.

The charity that allows you to re-establish the drive to fulfill your dreams.

The fuel that reminds you that all the hard work completed thus far is not wasted.

The courage to keep pushing forward, knowing that all you ever wanted in the world is achievable.

Not to give up hope.

Until I reach those dreams,

I have the soft crashing of the waves, the cool sand and the sunshine,

to remind me to keep moving forward,

so that I may accomplish everything I ever wanted in life and keeping pushing on.
