Calvin and Hobbes

Dear Bill Waterson, 

The book and comic strips that you have written,

has changed my life,

and that of the people around me.

For starters,

my name is Calvin.

Thats not why I chose this book,

no, not at all.

But his life was and is exactly like childhood.

I was a lonely child,

My Hobbes was a backpack,

well worn,

named Buggy.

and  Iused my imagination most of the time.

I was an outside kid.

And my mom and dad were always really busy,

but when they were around, 

I pulled the same gags the Calvin did wih his mom and dad.

The book of yours that I have,

is 27 years old.

My mom received it when she was a kid,

Your book makes my mom smile,

and I do too when i read it.

She has told me many times.

"You're my only child,

though I wanted to have more,

whether a boy or girl I was going to name them Hobbes"

When I have kids,

I will name them Hobbes,

in her honor.

I can't thank you enough 

I hope you can unerstnad where i'm coming from,

when I say our books have changed my life.

All from a man who decided to pick up a pen and write.

Because of this you inspired a little girl.

to believe and give hope to life.
