Can I Be Your Sparrow?

Tue, 11/07/2017 - 10:50 -- lexums

A sparrow is a simple bird

small, delicate

Easily forgotten

But it’s also gentle, loving

something to never be forgotten

It may be small

but all the better to hold to your heart.

Give it the chance, and it will warm you up

And make a nest there

Where it will stay forever

Its nowhere near as graceful as the swan

With pure white feathers and a pearly complexion

Dazzling wings and a gentle glide across the water

Rather, its small, clumsy

Yet close to the heart

If you let me, I can be too

There are others more glamourous than I

More pretty, more perfect

But if you let me

I’ll always fly back home to you

Let’s turn this tree into our home

It may be small, but it’s ours

And I, your gentle sparrow

Small, but with the biggest heart

Wings always open for you
