Can I become a tender heart

Can I become a tender heart

Can I feel the cries in the other's eyes

as he/she inwardly dies

Can I become a tender heart

amid pitiless men

A heart,

Warm and humanly

A heart that dares to smile

Can I hold love in the palm

Love, the unblemished dove

silently dwelling in calm

Can I become a tender heart

to an agonizing spirit

as it falls apart

Can I become a tender heart

Hold hands with the vulnerable

and

Make each moment memorable

Can I become a tender heart

before death takes part,

before heavenly doors slam shut.
