Can a Poem Be Simple?

Poems are interesting,

Unique to read,

Meanings deep inside.

It’s a reward to finally analyze a poem,

To understand what it is trying to say,

Like an ingenious escape room.

Why?

I’m trying to write a poem that is simple.

Is that going against nature?

If poetry is supposed to be whatever the poet makes it,

Why not make it simple,

Straightforward,

Appealing?

Isn’t it much easier to convey a message

If the way in which it is conveyed is easy to understand?

Maybe it’s too much to ask-

Maybe it’s not what a poem is.

But, I still can’t stop wondering

If a poem can be simple.
