Can We?

It’s with a hesitancy

of labelled mediocrity

that this question is approached

demonstratively.

Can we?

Our labelled prophecies

self fulfil openly

do we strive to be

all that we can be

Can we?

How can we be

what we want to be

with our destiny

predefined by a deity

Can we?

Perhaps controlled subliminly

as we submissivly

adopt the thoughts of the majority

is this democracy?

Can we?

I strive and reach to break from the norm

an individual with dreams and goals

creating amongst the masses a storm

people inspired to rise from their holes

no longer living to the beat and rhymes

of the many around us who can

but don’t, and instead wait for the chimes

of those they refer to as the Man

I’m free, one mind expressing openly

but still conforming with society

a part of history

I can and I will BE!
