Can You?
Can you sing, can you dance? It doesn’t have to be well, just can you do it? Can you walk on your tiptoes, can you cross your eyes? Can you put on a fedora without pretending it’s just some silly disguise because it’s really fucking hard to not do that, man, especially when you have a cool pair of shades that remind you of Neo -but not Agent Smith, he’s a fucking creep. Can you hum off-key to Piano Sonata No. 16? Can you look up at the sky and just think, “Wow”, because I can’t help but do that every time I step outside. Can you binge-watch an entire season of your favorite show in one morning? Can you laugh like there’s no tomorrow as you attempt to jump and jive on the club floor? Can you paint, can you try to paint a pretty picture with nothing but your memory as the reference image? Can you think, hope, dream, deny, question, inquire? Can you self-loath, can you form opinions of someone within the first ten seconds of meeting them, can you play the guitar, can you manage your own finances, do taxes scare you? Because they fucking scare the shit out of me man. I’m not ready to start doing my own taxes next month. Can you imagine what life will be like a year from now, how about twenty years into the future? Can ‘you do you’? Can you function at the daily level; one hour at a time? That’s okay. If you can only do that, then you’ll be okay.
