Can You Hear Me?

Can You Hear Me? I laugh, I smile I joke, I play I speak, but can you hear me? We all have masks that we wear It’s normal and natural We change them frequently Mask of our vocation, The mask we wear of our role in a family We regularly take one off and put the other on These masks collectively represent our true selves They are not used to lie or deceive We wear these interchangeable masks to fit a current situation The masks we wear are dependent upon us and whatever situation or environment we are in We all wear masks But some people never take them off For instead of taking one off and putting another on They simply place one atop another These types of masks are different from the ones we all wear They are not dependent on situation or circumstance And they are never taken off The sole function of these masks is that of stealth I laugh, I smile I joke, I play I speak, but can you hear me? Some people wear masks to hide their true selves I fell in love with one such person I laugh, I smile I joke, I play I speak, but can you hear me? I am exuberant, living in bliss With the one who truly loves me I laugh, I smile I joke, I play I speak, but can you hear me? I am truly happy and content We all wear mask And some use them to hide their true selves I laugh, I smile I joke, I play I speak, but can you hear me? Can you hear me? Stop and listen, truly listen Look into my eyes And tell me Can you hear what I’m not saying?
