Can You Imagine...
My little 14 year old cousin told me about how he had gotten into writing here lately.. So I asked to see some of his work and he sent me a poem he had written, and it was totally amazing.. I loved the innocent vibe it had to it and the fact that it offered a young perspective on things.. I got an idea for a second part to it so I asked him if I could add something of my own to it, and he said agreed.. And well.. Here's the end result... The first stanza is his, the second is mine.. I gotta say, it turned out really good!! PERSONALLY, I COMPLETELY LOVE IT!!
Can you imagine…
A night with no stars,
GTA with no cars,
Storms with no rain,
Getting hurt and having no pain.
A Dr. Seuss that can't ryhme,
A watch that freezes time,
Cities with no people,
A church with no steaple,
A day with no sun,
Friends who aren't fun,
Having no dreams,
Or an evil scientist with no schemes?
Life would seem so boring and empty,
Without the sins we find so tempting.
But what about all of the world's bad?
All the things that hurt us and make us sad.
Things like outrageous hunger and deathly plagues,
Like how we're not promised another day.
How about all the sorrow and unnessicary war?
What about the heavy burdens that we didn't ask for?
Or the decieving lies and unjustifiable hate,
And the ridiculous mistakes we all seem to make.
We do nothing but make it all worse,
Cause instead of talking we just yell and curse.
Changes in this world have got to be made,
We've got to stand up instead of being afraid!
So from now on when you consider your choices.
And instead biting your tounge, start raising your voices!
