Candle

The candle once burned so bright,

The light was a warmth that surrounded everyone,

Till one day it was blown out.

Some thought still glow it might,

Might not said no one,

The candle seemed to shout.

If only one could hear sadness,

One might hear the candle say,

My day is done, I burn no more.

This is my madness,

To site here and pay,

For those I love have gone before.

Let me go and find my light again,

For with my lord I might shine,

But just once more.

Those closest might not know how to begin,

For the candle is not mine,

It belongs high up on the sky with those gone before.

While the candle may seem to flicker,

It is just an optical illusion,

For those who wish to see light.

Everyone around seems to have grown quicker,

For I'm lost in my own delusion,

There's only one way for the flame to reignite.

The candle I see belongs in the sky,

Its up higher than the stars,

Up were I'm still in my youth.

Up were I will fly,

The light shines so it covers my scars,

Light is dim compared to the knowledge of the truth.
