Candlebox Brother

My brother listens to Candlebox, ‘cause he thinks

they sound like his own voice. Only, he doesn’t sing.

The earbuds float around his extraterrestrial brain

waves his hands when he’s off on those midnight

runs, down down down down down the double

yellows, but comes back with clean sneakers

and a plan to never fall asleep. At night, he studies

for med school. He’ll save everyone in the E.R.

E.M. He saves people for money for a picket fence.
