Candy apple
For my birthday for as long as I can remember
I would get myself a candy apple
Something I always wanted
Remember being happy everytime I got one
Never got what I wanted
Every gift was something my twin would like
So I started getting myself things
Including a candy apple
It started at age 18
When I spent my birthday away from family in another state
All I got from my aunt was jeans and a box of chocolates
I love her she's like a second mom
But it wasn't something I liked...
I went out for a walk in the town
I loved the lights and being surrounded by ppl
Never felt alone and the lights just made it bright
I end up in front of a candy store
Seeing the candy apples being made
The person smiles at me
Invites me in
I go in and the smell hits me
I smile
I watch as he puts one up
And that's when it hit me
I'm here
I have some $
It's something I want
It's my birthday
I'm getting it
I ask for one candy apple please
He smiles ask why I'm alone while he packs it in the box
I smile it's my birthday and my family is in another state probably celebrating my twin sister
I always wanted a gift for me
He looked sad but I just smiled
Candy apples always made me smile
He gave me the box and said happy birthday
I hope this becomes a tradition for you every year to come
I'm now turning 26
I may not be in the same state anymore when I was 18
But I still get a candy apple on my birthday
I hope the man is doing well
And that one day I can thank him for starting my tradition
A candy apple on my birthday 🍎
