Candy Bag

Life is a box of chocolates, they say

You never know what you'll get.
But I'd say life is a candy bag
Not everything is sweet I’ll bet.

This bag is not full of hugs and Kisses,
for the typical sweet-tooth you are.
But pungent sour comes a bitter sweet
for those flavors make life bizarre.

Grabbing a handful of bonbons and candy,

a sour patch kid sneaks in.

A burst of tart drowns out the sweet

and the form of a frown begins.

You pucker your cheeks, turning red

Your eyes water from the acidity.

But chewing and time will turn it around

As you open to a sweet possibility.

And just as how saccharine confections go quick,
the sour will go too.
But how you deal with these candies
well, that's all up to you.
