Can't Help Falling in Love
I met you,
And I never thought I would have wanted you
But you grew on me
The way your secretly green eyes caught the light in algebra
On the way you looked when you were in your own little bubble
With your headphones on listening to The Beatles
Or maybe it was our conversations about The Rolling Stones
Or the way you looked in that Johnny Cash tee
Perhaps it was in Science,
When you asked me if I had heard about The Doors
And that night I listened to every single song
I know my friends are sick of it,
The daily updates about how you started the conversation,
Or how you asked to work together first
And I know you were just being friendly
But I'm truly falling for you
Mrs. M put us next to each other
And when I saw the seating chart my heart began to flutter
And now I can't read without beginning to stutter
But I know it can't last,
Because the hopeless romantic with her nose in a book,
Can't be with the boy who has stolen her heart,
Without even knowing
But in my poems, someday I'll write a world
Where the First Chair Saxophone boy
Could be with the First Chair Alto Girl
But if I Can't Help Falling in Love with you,
Is there a chance you could love me too?
