Capricious Opinions

Who knows what inspired the flower to reach up to that damned blue sky; Perhaps it was the promise of the sun. The guarantee of warmth and protection From threats like wind and rain? But the sun abandons the flower When clouds approach with complications, Ripping the flower’s delicate face in a frenzy of falling knives. Who knows what inspired the flower to keep surviving, Fixing her face and reaching even further towards the sky. Perhaps it was the promise of the sun, That one day things will ameliorate, But flowers must keep looking up.
