Captive

Restrained by chains buried in my neck and wrists, Clawing at my throat seeking sweet release, As tears of pain, regret, sorrow, form a stream down my sunken cheeks To drip, drip, drip unwillingly from my trembling chin. Oh how I wish to dance with my Prince, He taught me the meaning of the blossoms and the bees. Showed me a love many only dream of. But the Great Mother keeps me captive within these bare walls, Walls filled with despair. They whisper, chant even, for me to join in their loathing. For I am a burden. A slave. A savage. I have become a saddened ghost of my past. Happiness is no longer within my reach, Freedom has slipped through my longing grip, Without so much as a backwards glance, a lingering touch, a whisper of a kiss. Within these bare walls I shall perish and rot My flesh will marry the earth, finally releasing me from this hell.
