Capture the Sun

Let’s capture the sun on our cameras
let’s rope in the waterless ocean
The sky above us is endless
The ground below is broken

Let’s try to capture the essence
of a beautiful mid-fall day
or maybe just spin in the open
and dance together….

Let’s reach up to the sky
on a whim of air a whisper
of whitely willowed whispers
where we were walking

As the earth trembles harmful beneath our feet
We’ll walk ‘til our shadows march to our beat
As a full almond sky feels itself not complete
Without a few light clouds of respite

Jump up toward the sun
and reach out for the moon
Look back upon what we’ve done
You say we’ll be there soon.

Now the path was long
and the way was high
We’ve floated through clouds
As they went by, and sighed
through zephyrs and currents

Fluids for miles, a waterless ocean
Until when we found vacuum
And no longer breathed
And had to save our oxygen

I trusted you then, so now:
Save me as we try to fly to the sun
As we reach for the moon
As we drown ourselves in limitless expanse
As we get out of this our littlest bubble
And capture the sun on our digital cameras
The sun in our hearts
The sun for ourselves
