The Cardinal
Red bird,
You sit there on my windowsill,
staying oh-so still,
keeping watch over me
amd my house.
Red bird,
you are like a burning flame,
that burns all day
with a passion unnamed-
but brilliant.
Red bird,
people say you are a carrier,
a carrier of souls,
of loved ones from heaven
riding on your crimson back.
Red bird,
you sit there on my windowsill,
staying oh-so still,
keeping watch over me
and my house.
A carrier,
red bird,
of a loved ones' soul
and so I say,
hello.
