Cardinals & Clouds

The beat of the cardinal’s wings shake the cage

They shake the cage so much I feel the vibrations

Clouds above make shapes in my mind

But the vibrations start blowing them abroad

They take over the sky and turn grey

Everything is cloudy, where is the sun?

In the distance I hear the whistle of the wind

It is ringing and fast and steals my breath

Look at the trees, count the branches

1, I notice the roots are connected to the bird cage

2, the cardinal slows

3, the cage stops shaking

4, the clouds separate

5, the wind stops screaming

6, I feel the grass beneath me

7, I feel the breeze around me

8, the warmth of the sun hits my face

9, I can see a lion in the clouds

10, I can breathe now

The cardinal relaxes and admires the clouds with me

We are all one
