The Carefree Man

Time trickles away On life’s universal clock. I am a carefree man by day A shielded suit of rock. For a moment I am glinted A treasure on a shelf An idea just invented Larger than itself. The moment passes as laughter goes Happiness when in the bright Tears and pain in the depth of lows In the bleakness of the night. Can I be more Than a shielded man Wrapped in plastic to his core Unable to even stand? My dreams are like fading mist Upon the fierce coast Raged away in a closed fist In a thundering boast: Here comes the carefree man Watch him laugh and make a fool For the crowd, for the fan To make himself seem cool. Look into my eyes Think me not always this soul That laughs and never dies So carefree not to work and dole. For I fell, rise, and fell So far down to never see the sun So many times I can’t tell But this tale’s just begun. So when there’s tears Do you possibly understand All the hard work and many years Of being a carefree man?
