Caring
I cared so much it hurt
I couldn't sleep at night.
I was stuck awake, wondering how many other girls you were telling the things you told me.
I cared so much that I had to run away.
Sure you chased me for a little, but then you gave up and found someone new.
But I could never move on.
I stayed up at night wondering what was going to happen to me, to us.
And then I told myself to get over you.
And every time you left, "in the middle", I slowly cut myself off.
And then when you were "all about me", my walls were impenetrable.
I knew I could never let you in because once you had whatever you wanted, or deserved, you'd leave.
I'd be by myself
But I'll never be afraid to care.
