The Caring One
The Caring One
In a world
Darkness, yelling, glass shatters
The sheets
Offer the only protection,
From the endless river.
The river of tears that are cause by the violent explosion
Separate worlds,
Held together by the world of a helpless individual.
She pleads, asks, and begs.
No one answers.
Through the tears she sees a faint light,
The light of a way out.
The door of self-destruction stands open.
As she nears the river changes course.
It starts to burn, sting, hurt.
A good hurt,
NO!
A bad hurt,
But good.
She feels the river change course,
Warm this time,
Sweet,
Sticky with hatred and relief.
A brighter light,
Coming through a window.
She walks over,
Leaving a trial,
A trail of bitterness,
Self-hatred,
Disgust,
Light is coming through a fog,
Dense yet oddly opaque.
A man,
No,
A prince is standing there.
Looking into the window.
He sees the girl,
The unwavering,
Natural,
Real beauty.
He sees it staring back at him.
He rides over to the window,
His steed made of respect,
Honor,
Love,
Kindness.
He looks down at the girl,
Extends his arm,
She is cautious,
But not for long,
She sees the good he embodies,
She reaches out with the hand not holding the key,
She looks down at the key,
Dripping with the blood of the innocent girl she is.
She looks back up,
Right into her rescuers eyes.
She drops the key,
Shiny,
Wet,
Sticky.
On his steed she goes,
As soon as she sits,
Everything melts away,
The shattering glass,
The violent explosions,
All of it gone.
She finds herself in a roaring torrent,
She is frightened and calls for help.
She doesn’t see that her prince is behind her,
Arms outstretched,
Asking for her to accept,
The embrace of safety,
Security,
Love.
As he wraps his arms around her,
She feels his heart beat in sync with hers,
The cool touch of his lips on her forehead.
A layer of something,
Worry,
Despair,
No,
Anguish,
The layer of anguish falls off,
Like a dress in sheet in the wind,
A glacier in the warmth of the spring sun,
A leaf in the wind,
She has found it,
Her safe place,
Where nothing can touch her.
With him she is safe,
With him she is forgiven,
With him she is HAPPY,
With him she is…..
She is with the one who cares.
