Carnation

Mother mother said don’t behead

The flowers sleeping in their beds

Mother Mother said do not try

To bring the flowers in or they’ll die

Mother mother tell me why

Why they die when the sky doesn't cry

Mother mother tell me why

All their petals have up and dried

Mother mother they are dead

Their flower heads are in their beds

Mother mother why did papa die?

You never did tell me why

Mother mother why do you cry?

I see your tears in the sky

Mother mother look right here

The flowers are beginning to appear

Mother mother don’t you fear

I can feel him standing here
