Carried
A student on the outside
Or so I may look
But little does one know
The things that I carry.
Among my back is a pack of papers and books
And is a lot heavier than it looks.
Along with this I carry a bag,
Which is filled with running clothes
For practice right after a long day of school,
Some cough drops and earplugs as well.
In my bag is a lunch full of food
For my hunger I carry throughout the day
I also carry the tiredness of 4 hours of sleep
And feel the emptiness of a room I once shared.
My sister, gone and off to college,
Knows not of how I’m failing math.
My mom, on the other hand, thinks I carry
Laziness and therefore am failing math.
Of the many things I carry,
On the inside and out,
I hope one day to lighten my load,
But not too much as to where I loose myself.
