Carroll's Creation

Friday, August 22: I watched the Basketball Diaries in admiration for Leonardo DiCaprio

And the intensity of his acting left me speechless.

I saw the power of poetry and how Jim's mind gave into his experiences and emotions as he wrote.

Later that day:

-I rested in a slouched position on the couch

My eyes were fixed on some boring network

But my mind was way outside

Past the shriveled flowers in the backyard

Parched from the dry beaming weather

As I calmly stared far beyond my reach

A redefining spirit of inspiration awoken

I suddenly felt the urge to find a pen and paper

I salvaged a red composition book, engraving my name the cover

My hand glided across the paper without frustration, flourishing with fluid thoughts

I wrote about future travels, nature's eternal beauty, and poems with crystal scenic visions,

     Captured by perfectly positioned words

Along a stepping stone of stars

Is the endless dreaming of my desire to write

With steady physicality and a wandering mind

      I hold against my heart

     A reasoning faith

That appears with side eyeing curiosity

     And tentatively fills a soul

     With whispering movement

My heart beats with higher hope

My hands tap on splintering wood

Rebirth of a new perspective on life is at work now

The squishy soil soaks up fresh tears

While the peachy petals are softly kissed
