cases

it is again the summer

and perhaps I will finally lose a major organ to this disease

my mother looks on, worried about the operations

but when I glance in the mirror

all I can do is stare hard at my abdomen

at the place where this organ tries and fails to keep me alive

in my mind it must sound like the great curdling howls of a dying lion

but it is just too strange for the noise

I used to think my brain was trying to kill me

but to see this wish realized in such a physical way

is a raw and stark reminder of the nervous brokenness of my own body
