"Cast Away" Necessities
On an island all alone,
One can only go so long without feeling utter hopelessness
Despair…
Fear…
Worry…
Deceptively slowly, they begin to take over
Like the slithering serpent of Satan they wrap around
Your heart and soul
Until you are so afraid that your own shadow
Awakens, separates from your person, and turns to strangle you
I must ward off those evil things
Those things that wish to play with my head and leave me
A frightened child alone in the dark
I will need:
The determination of the tiger
Whose drive and passion push it through the toughest of conflicts
The resourcefulness of the raven
Whose wiliness and intelligence provide nourishment for its aching belly
The courage of the mighty lion
Whose roar drops every animal of the plains to their knees
Protecting itself from their wrath
And finally, to survive the darkest of times
The darkest of trials…
The darkest of nights…
…
…..
…
I’m going to need my iPod
