Castle of Trees

At the margins, trees

like spindly pillars.

A maze of boulders and hedges

settled in a coil.

The ground made simply

of grass and plumerias.

The greenery tickles my feet

in a way that I fleetingly lose control over my body.

Crisscrossed branches, sprouting leaves, snapshots of the sky

all connect to produce a ceiling.

Crepuscular fairies fly before curfew at nightfall

when twinkling stars like scattered moon dust fill the midnight sky.
