The Cat

In a neighborhood in scenic Boston there lives a guy.

He doesn’t feel like living a life of being shy.

He is loving and wants a beautiful marriage,

One where he’ll ride with a woman in a carriage.

For his days of being single, he has a cat.

The cat, Boris, loved to chase a bat.

He would go to measures to delay his flight

And would try to get rid of him with all his might.

Recently, Boris became a cat who’s soft

And would let the bat just fly aloft.

As the days flew by Boris became very lonely.

He felt as if he was the only

Cat of his species who didn’t have a love.

He so craved a love as beautiful as a dove.

He began to ask himself, “Why aren’t any girls attracted to me?

I’m the best cat in Boston that could ever be

A romantic towards a strange tan beauty.

I speak my words with superb superfluity

That I’m a cat any woman should date.

Please, God, find me a perfect mate.”

One day, Boris became so sad that he decided to take a walk.

While walking, he had a long talk

With the Lord about his dating issue.

The Lord knows he likes to pursue

Any beautiful woman in the neighborhood.

He came across a girl who seemed to be good

Enough to go out with on a fish dinner.

His style won over her heart, and he felt like a winner.

Vanessa, the woman cat said, “You are as precious as the grass of the yard.

You are so precious I want to write you a card.

I love any boy who is cuddly and cute,

Any boy who is not socially mute.

Your precious character fits my huge bill.

Just slow down and take a pill,

And I will go out with you anytime.”

Vanessa made it seem like a relationship didn’t even cost a dime.

Boris asked Vanessa out on a date to the fish eatery.

Before the date, he made himself neat and orderly.

They went out and ate several pounds of fish.

They ate and ate from every single dish.

They laughed and had good times.

Boris felt a mere dozen chilling chimes

In his heart. Afterwards, they went back home,

Back to their confinement where they would roam

Like all true cats would generally do.

The next day, Boris decided to woo

Vanessa more to make her feel good inside.

He went about it with great pride.

On this day, she was able to walk on his land.

The house rang out to Vanessa like a country band

Chanting beautifully. Walking in, she seemed sincere,

But if Boris didn’t comply with her constant demands, she would twist his ear.

She was constantly asking for a massage, tuna, and milk.

She was not behaving tender like a silk.

She was always selfishly demanding him to give stuff.

At the end of the day, Boris felt he had had enough.

Still, he would invite her to go out.

Though, he would continually have a doubt

About their status. He still hung on, though.

His affection caused him to refuse the answer “no.”

He was extremely nice and patient like that,

But Vanessa kept acting like a bat

Boris would chase before softening his attitude.

Still, as she came over more, Vanessa showed him less gratitude.

She was still asking for things like she was a queen,

And if she didn’t get those things, she would become mean.

It got so out of hand, that the relationship became violent.

She didn’t treat it for what it was meant.

One day, Boris broke up with the beautiful feline.

“I’ve decided you are no longer mine.

You make me feel like I don’t matter,

And I feel like you don’t flatter

My personality. All you do is take but don’t give.

Frankly, that’s the way I don’t want to live,

So we are done!” he said. He felt upset,

But her constant demands made him feel like he was in debt.

He couldn’t bear to be in that relationship anymore,

So he threw Vanessa out the door.

She took everything except for his dignity.

Now that she was gone, he had to face reality.

The moral, “mates,” is that some people in a relationship are cruel

And constantly use you to where you feel like a mule.

Life can sometimes make you feel bent,

But God uses it to make you more confident.

So weird, so twisted. I didnt know what to think- I still dont. This poem is odd and I cant think of another way to describe it. It was brilliant. I cant heap enough praise onto this poem. It was so "out-there" with the symbolism, imagery and tone. I wish and hope to be able ot write something like this, someday. You are brilliant.
