Cat

I love my cat

But he is soon to be gone.

Leaving me all alone

to wallow in my own sadness

because my mom is sending him away.

It’s the worst kind of betrayal

He has always been by my side, never betraying

me because he knows he is my cat

When he is sent away

forever gone

sadness

will over take as I sit alone alone

With him I was never alone

He comforts each betrayal

cuddles away sad

days. He is my cat

and I don’t want him gone.

My mom has no right to send him away.

She wants to send him away

to my father where he will be all alone

and then gone

forever. It’s the worst betrayal

and he, my cat

won't be there to take away the sadness

My mother thinks I won’t be sad

That sending him away

is the best thing, because she hates cats

She is taking away the reason I am never completely alone

leaving me to betray

myself, so I can be gone.

The house is empty, he’s now gone

The empty air causes sadness

to crash down around the rocks of betrayal

leading me away

to be alone

without my one comfort, my cat.

He’s gone far away

leaving me sad and alone

The burn of betrayal stings every time I see another cat.
