A girl on the cusp of womanhood

With feminine features and curves

Begins to despise what she's praised for

As many insist to unnerve

"Hey sexy"

They shout at their new toy

"Nice ass!"

They shout out at the girl

She's told to walk fast and ignor it

Lest antiquated chauvenism unfurls

You tell me to get in the kitchen

Or better yet into your bed

But homemaking isn't my living

And if you're not living

You're dead

I'm just a quirky theatre kid trying to make it in a world that insists I don't exist.
