Like Catching Water
A heart that’s wounded
is worse than one that’s broken.
You’re stuck in a nightmare
And can’t seem to be woken.
How can there be trust
If it’s just going to happen again?
I know where this is going
Because I know where I’ve been.
If I just buck up
And hold fast and strong,
This too shall pass
And it’ll all turn right from wrong.
I find my voice
And start to sing,
I learn to fly
With my brand new wing!
I soar high above
Getting higher and higher.
But the bigger I get
The more I tire.
I don’t need your help
I can do this on my own.
Things are so much simpler
When you go through it all alone.
Like catching water
It’s hard to keep up.
I’m hard to follow
and particular on who makes the cut.
I’ve searched high and low
The long list is getting alarming.
Must be smart, must be strong
Will I ever find my Prince Charming?
The longer I look
The more dismal it appears.
I don’t see the point
As soon as it begins it disappears.
This whole time
I thought it was up to me
There is a person out there
And it’ll all be meant to be.
You don’t have to be so strong
It’s not all up to you.
Just learn to be patient
Sit and enjoy the view.
Let go of the wheel
It’s ok to loose control.
But because I love you
What was half is now whole.
