The Catfish
You lay there doing nothing.
You're ees are cloudy.
can you even see?
You probably can't see
the two fishes dancing above youre head.
You lay there motionless
almost dead.
are you dead?
You have moved a fin...
Oh, and youre head.
I see you're skin is peeling off.
Should I feel sad for you?
Or sad for me?
you seem dead. I don't.
But I havedied a long time ago.
Good bye my friend.
Good bye my friend.

Your Poem's Voice
Personal observation of dying fish mixed with speaker's internal death metaphor.
Multiple rapid shifts: observation, questions, physical detail, existential realization.
Pervasive death imagery, decay, sadness, existential emptiness dominate.
Fragmented syntax and repeated questions create nervous urgency despite stillness theme.
Approximately 12-13 lines depending on spacing; falls in 7-15 range.
Metaphor of internal death; personification of fishes dancing; mostly direct language otherwise.
Pure lyric internal voice; direct address to fish; introspective emotion.
