Catharsis
Instead of eraser to wrist
I put pencil to paper,
And out spilled the words
My lips failed to even whisper.
The monsterous demons that filled my brain
Flowed through my pencil and painted a scene.
I separated my depression from who I am
The way a poet decisively separates the words of a slam.
With every poem,
Every line,
Every word,
I learned "Depression does not define this girl!"
No I am more than the scene my words painted
Because it is not me, but the page, that will remain tainted.
