The Cat's Eye
Who am I to deny
what is seen by the cat’s eye?
Through the darkness
of the night
where we may run in fright
and despite
what we cannot see, it is there
The cat knows.
The eye, the velvety eye
cut through with an empty black slit
The cat’s eye.
It ripples and it grins
all-knowing, ever-seeing
always watching
she sees.
