The Cave
I see myself in a cave, huddled in a corner. My pants and shirt are ripped. I have scars from my toes to my forehead. My nose and cheeks are a cherry red, my hair mess. But I have a small crack though the rocks that I can see the light, it is the sunlight, but it is the most beautiful sunlight I have ever seen. It makes my eyes so light green they are almost clear. It shows the scars on my body, it is what makes my cheeks red it even shows the freckles on my nose. I love this light, I crawl towards it every day as soon as the sun rises. I sit there in the sun beam every day, all day. No matter how dehydrated it makes me. I love the light. There is nothing keeping me in this cave, in this darkness. But I choose to be here, to stay. Because, my eyes are the only eyes that get to see this luminous light and have it tough my skin so softly. I want to keep it for myself, for it is my light.
