Celebrating Rainbows
Toast for the cut on the lip
Toast for the scratches on his arms
A dance of fists and hurt knuckles
Got into troublesome red
Hurray! For the sunset of the dawn
When we came past midnight
Hurray! Our lungs exploding in the streets
Orange, for the shadow on her lids
Shiver for the grass pressed on your toes
Shiver for the ocean breeze
Green for a season of what if’s
Taken the lead to Wonderland
Applause for the “almost gotten’s”
Drove for kilometers of highways
We were convinced it led to heaven
Applause on the indigo that colored my spirit
Roar for the yellow bright hair
Roar for the obnoxious of yourself
Claimed to be kings of the world
We were just kids getting too involved
Shake the sudden blue around your eye
Shake for the hidden places
Of the blows you got through
When your teeth were still made of milk
Your violet pallet of bruises was your fave
Look for getting off the stories villains win
Cry for the gone, cry for the decay
Cry for daddy coming home at the end of the day
