A Celebration of Action
Was anything of the matter
when she dreamt through the class
slept over the chatter?
Was anything of the bother
when her heart was stained
by the neglect of her father?
Was anything of the concern
when her focus levelled zero
and her grades took a turn?
I wonder if the drinking was all fun and games
or if it was the hidden ticket
to fly her life away.
But what happens to the girl,
the one we let go,
the one we often thought about,
now no longer know?
It was all the matter
when her neighbor offered help
after noticing the pattern.
It was of all the bother
when her brother heard her cries
and hurried to calm her.
It was of all the concern
when the teacher gave extra time,
for better grades she would earn.
You wonder if your worry was enough to save her
from the thoughts that would surely
hurt her later.
But it's the worries and the thoughts,
the thoughts we give,
the thoughts we turn to actions,
the actions which make her live.
