Celestial Battle

Morning stalks the night,
waiting for her chance to throw out the sun
to battle the moon.
The moon, shy and meek, retreats to the other side of the world
while the sun takes center stage.
He puts on a show all day,
His rays dancing abroad.

Night stalks the day,
waiting for his chance to free the moon
from her exile.
While the sun continues to dance,
she slithers into the sky
and reclaims her throne.

The sun, weary from the long day,
finds her power to be stronger
and is banished to the ends of the earth,
where he plots his return.

The cycle continues.
