Cells of Life

Two heartbeats synchronizing as one

To create a marvel called life

From Two to One and then to billions

Starting with a very silent beat

Each achieving a great biological feat

To multiply cells must divide

An anomaly in math we find normal for life

The simple

The strange

Each one deranged

How easy we say “I wish it all ended today”

There are a billion and one of me with the same genetic code

With an inherent theme

To redeem our past and ignore the present

When our present fades and our future arrives and our past consumes our time

Our cells no longer differentiate and our anomaly of life deteriorates

Our starting beat is heard no more as our past, present, and future amalgamate

To the silence which existed before light came into existence
