Center of Problems

Is it my fault?

I keep asking myself bitterly,

Tears trying to slip through

The barrier of my eyes,

And that familiar pain

In my chest and heart

Is aching so much,

And that familiar lump

Is welling in my throat,

As doors slam

And my parents shout

And my sibling cries;

I really didn’t mean to,

I whimper in my head,

I’m sorry I made this happen,

I’m sorry I started this fight,

I’m sorry I opened my stupid mouth;

Now I’m dying inside yet again,

And guilt and shame are breaking through

My skin,

Suffocating me inside,

As I silently weep,

Wishing myself away from the scene,

To hear anything but fighting

Between my loved ones.

I have been writing poetry for 5 years now and I have a collection of over 600 original poems I've made. I submitted a poem to Appelley Publishing and was published in the 2018 addition of their poetry book. I love to read and write, and I have a cat and a hamster.
