Certainty of Smoke
I came here today
For the second time
Everything is consuming
I’m alone with only you around me.
I see our memories hung up
Ones only we can share
Our wholeness is undisputable
Yet no one would know.
It feels like you are with me, like you are me
And I envisage you feel the same
Not dead in actuality
Only until our next words of detachment.
I will not see you.
Not yet.
The tears will stay invisible on my casing
On your shirt
Staining the mark of destruction
The one perfect thing the earth has to offer
Taken.
The unbearable yearn for your touch,
Your smell,
Yet
The need to stay away.
If I get to close I might burn.
My progression the embers,
My course now following the smoke

Of where it would be taken to next.
One thing is definite, though,
As the air moves unknown
I will gravitate to the ceiling
Into the arms of my home.
